Wisconsin’s Fight to Save the Driftless Area from Data Centers

Filmmaker: Nels Lindquist

2026 | United States | 12 min. | All Ages

In late 2025, residents of Cassville learned that a $1 billion data center was being proposed in their backyard. What followed was a process shrouded in secrecy, as officials signed nondisclosure agreements and zoning meetings moved forward without public comment. Set in the Driftless Area, one of North America’s most geologically unique landscapes, this film follows a small community organizing against a massive development, and a growing national battle over who pays the price when Big Tech comes to town.
